Holidays, Inc. is the book of my heart. I grew up on old movies and have always loved when the ultimate solution to the problem is to put on a show. For years, I’ve been drafting various ideas about a showbusiness romance but found inspiration after watching a news story about a group of young business people determined to save their town. . .

She scanned the muscles straining under the basic T-shirt. He probably purchased a multi-pack on a grocery run, yet the cotton hugged like a custom fit highlighting a trim figure. As she met his gaze, she spotted the fine lines around his eyes. He was definitely a few years older than her, but not by much.

Her chin trembled. “No, no, heavy lifting.” She smoothed a stray tendril behind her ear, brushing her fingers against her warm cheeks.

His low laughter tugged at the tight coil wrapped like a belt around her fluttering stomach. She caught her lower lip with her teeth and stumbled, her shoe catching in a crack on the pavement. Stretching her arms forward, she brushed his bicep with a hand.

Wrapping an arm around her waist, he lifted her against his body.

She focused on his dilated pupils, her chest rapidly rising with shallow breaths. “Sorry,” she murmured. “Thank you. I’m tossing these shoes.”

He lowered her to the sidewalk. “What a shame.”


Paul straightened. The performers commanded attention, and the sweetness of their interaction enraptured him. I’d like to have that someday . He slipped a finger under his crew neck collar. With only inches of separation, he heightened his awareness of her so close to his right side. He hadn’t felt anything either professionally or personally for a long time. At the theater, he couldn’t deny the rush of excitement for both. If he made a move, he risked his career. Would holding back shutter his heart?

Dani leaned toward him. “Now, they have a spark,” she murmured. “I can’t believe your family isn’t the most talented in town.”

Remembrancy - Review

"There is so much more to Holidays, Inc. by Rachelle Paige Campbell than the book blurb. This story is about a struggling small town, friendships, and finding a place your heart can call home. . . . From the get-go, the exchanges between Dani and Paul start out rough but as they warm up to each other, their conversations shift to more. Add in a secondary budding romance (which I sincerely hope we get a resolution to in a future book) and a Hallmark-esque ending, and Holidays, Inc. is a charming read with the happy finale romance readers crave."


“What do you have?”

“You agreed to help with town research.” He grinned and raised a large to-go bag. “The least I could do was provide sustenance.”

Nora stepped through and gasped. “Wow.” She turned in a slow circle. “I never imagined Howell Cinemas could be transformed into something so grand. What you’ve done here is miraculous.”


“Dani, he’s perfect. I’m taking him home.” Kara stood in front of the cluttered desk, fingers splaying on her tiny waist and one shoulder tilting forward.

“Shhh.” Dani shut the door and turned the lock. With years of lessons, Kara trained her voice to carry from stage to the rafters. Dani pressed her ear “and cheek against the solid door, straining for any sound. Silence greeted her. Sagging her shoulders, she turned and faced her visitor.

Under the dull fluorescent lighting, she shimmered. Always a star. Dani frowned. Did she categorize Kara as a friend, a one-time confidante, or an enemy? Until last autumn, Dani considered Kara a sister. Dani barely repressed her instinct to embrace Kara. With more time, Dani hoped for a reconciliation. Today was too soon.


Dani poked her head through the slim opening and lifted her gaze.

Her blue eyes sparkled. He ran a hand through his hair. Waiting to enter the office filled him with dread from a childhood of being called to task in the very spot. He couldn’t use the same excuse for stalling today.

“Hi, Paul, what’s up?”

“I wanted to chat with you.” He cleared his throat. “About the other night.”

What inspired you to write HER INCONVENIENT CHRISTMAS REUNION?

I was first inspired to write Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion after a once in a lifetime trip to California for a wine tour in Napa Valley. The scenery was so inspiring and breathtakingly lovely, I knew I had to plot my next book in such a setting.

Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion, my latest release for Harlequin Romance, is set mostly in a California winery. Not surprisingly, the two main characters are wine experts. So they might not agree with me about the following as I know there a lot of people who are sticklers about exactly what kind of food goes with a particular wine. But I happen to have a baked ziti recipe that I personally feel is delicious whether you’re a red or white drinker. Bonus: It’s extra cheesy. . .

Mistletoe Moments

One of my favorite parts of Holiday movies or books is that iconic romantic mistletoe moment. When the main characters find themselves under the festive plant, they have the perfect excuse to finally indulge in that kiss they’ve been yearning for. My ultimate favorite one in a movie is the scene in the Sandra Bullock blockbuster, While You Were Sleeping. The longing between Lucy and Jack is downright palpable. I strive for that level of angst and longing with my mistletoe scenes, where the characters are trying their hardest to deny their growing feelings for each other. . .

Izzy:

Q: How did it feel when you realized you’d been bequeathed the vineyard where you’d worked for so many years.

A: It was most definitely a shock. I never expected the previous owner, my boss and mentor, to leave the vineyard and business to me in her will. Of course there was a catch. And that came as an even bigger shock – I’d have to share the winery with none other than my ex. It was all part of Myrna’s bigger plan. She knew I’d never gotten over her nephew when he left for bigger pastures years ago. Her last act was to bring us back together. She always was a wise woman.


I'm a sucker for second chance romances, especially around the holidays. And the bonus to this one is that it also takes place in a winery. It's a very formulaic plot that I have read many times. But the nuances of the journey make reading it quite a lovely adventure. . . it's an enjoyable second chance romance that kept me occupied on a rainy weekend. I don't think I have read any of Nina's books before, but she is an author I will keep an eye out for in the future!"


SHE PRETENDED TO SLEEP in the car on the ride back to the hotel. She was in no mood to talk. The day felt like it had gone on hours too long. Had it really been just this afternoon when they’d attempted to tour the Eiffel Tower?

If Zayn knew she was faking, to his credit, he wasn’t calling her on it. Probably thought she was crushed by her defeat. Little did he know, that was only part of her disappointment this evening.

She fully intended to continue the charade until she heard him say something in French to the driver. “Arrêtez, si’l vous plait.” He was asking him to stop the car.

What do you think it is about Christmas that makes us long to read so many romance novels?

Christmas is such an enchanting time. The lights, the festive atmosphere in the air, all the decorations. Then there’s the prospect of a new beginning and new year right around the corner. What better way to celebrate all that than by reading an entertaining story about people falling in love?

I’m always so intrigued about the ‘one that got away’. The questions that linger about why the relationship didn’t work out and if there’s a chance things may turn out differently if only the couple had another chance. Maybe the story involves one of the characters swallowing their pride this time around. Something they found much too difficult to do the first time. But now they know how much was lost for the sake of ego. And just how little it was worth it. . .

"I've read a couple of Beth Carpenters other books in this series and loved them, so I knew I needed to read this one. And I was not disappointed. There is something about the mystique of Alaska. Jo Elliott was born in Melbourne Australia, to Greek parents and has resided in the world's greatest city all her life. She left a career in industrial relations to pursue her greatest love which is introducing children to God's word. Joanna is married to Phillip Elliott, a devoted writer of fiction, and together they have traveled the world, opening their minds and their hearts to new peoples and languages. When she's not plotting her next teen book, Jo is trying to learn Italian, and is tinkering with an old family piano (which requires urgent tuning!)




MY REVIEW

Time to Shine is a combination of historical time travel and inspirational Christian fiction.

I enjoyed following Josh, Ally, and Brendan as they go to Biblical Syria and meet Saul, Ananias, Simon, and Judas. They learn more about Jesus and the government that is in place at the time. Josh is preparing for an essay he has to write for class and figured if God could send them there, he could learn about it first hand.

It was an interesting story but the dialect spoken along with the English translation slowed down the story a little and was a bit distracting. The descriptions of food, countryside, and customs added to the story and made it come alive. An inspirational and exciting read.

The end of the story wrapped up nicely and taught a lesson about family relationships and trust. I received a copy of the book and voluntarily choose to review it.
