My Review

The storyline is one of sadness and unexpected loss. Now, Tyler, a single man with no idea how to care for a baby, finds himself her guardian. The owner of a company and juggling a baby seems impossible until he is reminded that with God, all things are possible. I was hooked from the beginning and finished in one sitting.

I loved the way God put Tyler and his ex-wife working together. The descriptions of the Legacy Ranch and Aunt Dee's dream come true, made the story special. I loved all the characters and how God was important to each one in a different way. I loved seeing the spiritual growth of Tyler and Audrey and the difference it made in their lives. I especially loved the ending.

I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

Blog Tour Singing Through Fire by Lara Silverman, J.D.

Singing Through the Fire JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Singing Through Fire by Lara Silverman, J.D., hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Singing Through Fire

Title: Singing Through Fire
Author:
Lara Silverman, J.D.
Publisher:
Isaiah 4320 Press
Release Date:
August 26, 2025
Genre: Christian Romance/Memoir

What if you fall madly in love on the brink of eternity?

Singing Through Fire invites readers into the Job-like true story of a young woman who loses everything—and dares to ask why a good God allows it.

When Stanford Law graduate Lara Palanjian collapses on her dream job, she never imagines it will lead to four years bedridden—or to the love of her life.

Enter Matthew Silverman: a witty, wise, and impossibly joyful youth pastor and professor facing terminal cancer. What begins with a few random encounters soon ignites an extraordinary, God-written love story that neither of them saw coming.

As their unlikely romance unfolds between medical crises, late-night laughter, and unexpected musical performances, Matthew’s unshakable faith challenges everything Lara thinks she knows about God’s goodness—and what it means to walk with Christlike faith, resilience, and joy in the face of overwhelming grief and suffering.

But with time against them, one question looms louder than the rest: What if this gift is only for a moment?

Shockingly funny and spiritually rich, Singing Through Fire is a modern-day Job meets Lucille Ball. It explores what it means to suffer, love, and even laugh and make music while your life is burning down around you. It eloquently gives voice to the aching questions many sufferers quietly carry—then takes readers inside the breathtaking story of two people who found miraculous love and defiant joy amid heartbreaking loss.

It reveals how God can use even our deepest pain to write the most beautiful love stories—even on the cusp of eternity.

My Review

Singing Through Fire is the first memoir that I've ever read, and I'm happy that I was led to read this one. Be ready with the tissues for crying in sympathy and rejoicing in their joy.

The story of Laura and Matthew Silverman's journey is one of intense suffering, hardship, and a test of faith and trust. This story touched my heart. I was emotionally charged as I walked their journey through the pages of their lives. I was given a thorough look at their character, followed their thoughts through each circumstance, and learned how God used their suffering to bring forth joy.

Both Laura and Matt were struggling with what could eventually lead to their early death due to their illness. I was inspired by how God used both of them. I admired their ability to get past the pain and witness for God. The book was enlightening as I read scripture and reminded me of some things I hadn't considered in a long time. It was so inspiring, and I hope everyone gets a chance to experience it.

I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

MY REVIEW

I was engaged in the story from the beginning. The setting in Scotland and the discussion of the Loch Ness Monster were a nice addition as a backdrop. The story takes place as the Nazi's in Germany make it difficult for certain classes to leave. Ben, being a recluse in Scotland because of his past, decides to work to free the children in Germany.

Parts of the story are heartbreaking. The complicated relationship between Ben and Eleanor creates a lot of tension but produces an inspirational, faith-based romantic outcome that weaves another unexpected situation. There were some twists I didn't see coming. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. The characters were interesting with many layers.

I loved the ending, which had some surprises and was not what I expected, but wrapped up everything nicely—a great story and one I highly recommend.

I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

Canyon of Deceit Takeover & Review Blitz by DiAnn Mills

Canyon of Deceit JustRead Takeover + Review Blitz

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Canyon of Deceit
Title: Canyon of Deceit
Author: DiAnn Mills
Publisher: Tyndale Fiction
Release Date: September 9, 2025
Genre: Romantic Mystery & Suspense

A rescue team searches for a missing young girl and suspects all is not as it seems in this high-stakes romantic suspense novel from the author of Lethal Standoff and Facing the Enemy.

When wilderness survival expert Therese Palmer receives a frantic phone call from former colleague Professor Rurik Ivanov, she is shocked by the news that his young daughter, Alina, is missing—and that Rurik wants Therese’s help finding her. She’s sure Rurik hasn’t given her the whole story . . . especially since he refuses to report the kidnapping to the police. Yet with a child’s life hanging in the balance, Therese can’t turn down this mission. She knows the clock is ticking and she can’t do this alone.

Therese reaches out to Texas Ranger Blane Gardner, whom she met seven months ago during one of her training courses in wilderness survival skills. Blane’s specialized training and background with the Crisis Negotiation Unit make him uniquely prepared for this search-and-rescue mission. He agrees to help Therese and to accept Rurik’s terms to keep Alina’s disappearance quiet, and as the two begin working together, Therese is determined the spark growing between them won’t distract from their mission to save Alina.

Traversing deep into the desert of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Alina’s last known location, Therese and Blane struggle to separate truth from lies within the mix of intel they’re receiving. As they close in on answers that suggest the involvement of Russian organized crime and a high-profile international assassination attempt, they must fight to rescue Alina before she becomes an innocent casualty of a much bigger plot—no matter the risk to their own lives.

MY REVIEW

Canyon of Deceit had me hooked from the beginning. The suspense was outstanding, and the story kept getting more involved as the characters' many layers were revealed. The plot kept evolving with more questions than answers, but was resolved in the end. It kept me guessing who was really in charge of the bad guys.

Blane and Theresa were courageous, inspiring, and cared about the people they worked with and those they tried to help. The sweet, slow burn of a romance between them had me laughing at times. I loved Blane's final spiritual transformation. The kidnapped child, Alina, was amazing in how she managed to be so brave.

I finished the story in one sitting-couldn't put it down! One of the author's best and highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

The Undercover Heiress of Brockton Blog Tour by Kelly J. Gosham

About the Book

Book: The Undercover Heiress of Brockton

Author: Kelly J. Goshorn

Genre: Christian Fiction / Romance / Historical Fiction

Release Date: August 1, 2025

A Socialite in Disguise Seeks Truth and Justice

Henrietta “Etta” Maxwell is a hard-hitting investigative reporter for The Enterprise Daily. The catch? Etta must pen her columns under the nom de plume, Henry Mason—a fact that routinely puts a knot in her knickerbockers.

Leo Eriksson is a second-generation firefighter with a passion for rendering aid to those in need. When Leo discovers that Henry Mason is really Henrietta Maxwell, the fire department’s wealthy benefactress, he agrees to keep her identity secret. After a sudden blast rocks the Grover Shoe Factory, Leo and Etta team up to determine if the explosion is related to a series of suspicious fires in the area.

When an unnamed source reveals Etta’s secret identity to a rival reporter, she falsely accuses Leo of being the informant. As the truth comes to light, Etta must persuade Leo to give her a second chance or lose the only man she’s ever loved.

MY REVIEW
The Undercover Heiress of Brockton is a wonderfully written story, part historical and part fiction. It is done so well that I doubt the reader will be able to discern where the embellishments occur. At least I couldn't. The authors' vivid descriptions transport the reader right into the heart of the Brockton fire and the heartbreak of those who survived it.

Henrietta Maxwell is a woman trying to fit into a man's vocation and is determined to make her place. It was interesting to discover how. She is determined, high-spirited, and acts with conviction, despite her status in life suggesting otherwise. The budding romance she gets into creates lots of tension.

The story evoked every emotion I could think of. In some parts, there was great joy in the coming together of the town, while I teared up reading about the great tragedy. This is one you don't want to miss!

I received an ARC via NetGalley; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

More from Kelly

A Little Swedish Flavor

Beginning in 1844, Swedish immigrants began arriving in Brockton, Massachusetts. By 1920, Swedes accounted for approximately 30% of the city’s population. Their long-lasting impact on Brockton’s character remains evident today with annual cultural celebrations and religious festivals.

The Undercover Heiress of Brockton is set in the Swedish neighborhood of Campello. My hero Leo Eriksson’s favorite meal is Kalops, a savory beef stew that is traditionally served with boiled potatoes and pickled beets. For Leo, a bachelor who takes most of his meals at The Drake Tavern, the dish recalls happy childhood memories of his mother’s cooking.

Kalops contains typical stew ingredients like carrots, celery, onions, and garlic, but what makes this dish unique is the addition of allspice. Allspice adds a warm spicy flavor to the recipe that makes it perfect for a chilly winter day.

I had the opportunity to taste test this recipe, and while I would never brag about my own cooking skills, I have to say that it turned out quite well. I’d love to hear from you if you decide to give this traditional Swedish dish a try.

Kalops (Swedish Beef Stew)

Recipe courtesy of Skandibaking.

SERVINGS: 6

Prep Time: 20 minutes mins

Cook Time: 2 hours

INGREDIENTS

2.4 lbs chuck roast (or other beef cut suited for stews)

1 medium onion

2 cloves garlic

3 large carrots

1 stalk celery

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp butter

3 tbsp flour

1/4 tsp ground allspice (or more to taste!)

2-3 bay leaves

3 cups beef stock (can also use water and bouillon)

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

SERVED WITH: large potatoes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prep the beef by cutting into 1 inch cubes. Season well with salt.
  2. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil when preheated and add beef in one layer, searing on all sides. If you need to sear the meat in batches, you can remove one batch before adding the next to ensure that it browns well.
  3. Dice your onion and celery while the beef is cooking (or prep ahead of time). Finely mince the garlic cloves.
  4. Once the meat is browned on all sides, add in the onion, celery, and garlic. Cook until just softened.
  5. Chop your carrots into bite sized pieces. You can either add the carrots now if you like them super soft or add them with about 45 minutes left of cooking if you prefer them to have more of a bite.
  6. Add one tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Once melted, add in three tablespoons of flour and stir until everything is coated. Add in ground allspice.
  7. Pour in beef stock, stirring while adding to dissolve the flour coating. Once all of it has mixed in, add in 2-3 bay leaves. Now is a good time to taste for initial seasoning – add in salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer and cover. Let the stew simmer for about an hour and 15 minutes; add more water or stock if needed! Now is also the time to add the carrots if you want them to be less soft.
  9. Simmer for an additional 45 minutes or until the beef is very tender – in the meantime, prepare the potatoes for serving.
  10. Prep potatoes by peeling and cutting in half. Place in a pot with cold water and add salt. Heat over medium-high heat with the lid on until it boils. Remove the lid and boil for about 15 minutes or until a knife poked into the center of a potato releases easily (you can also just taste for doneness!). Drain and set aside until ready to serve.
  11. Remove bay leaves. Check for final seasoning (add more salt if needed). Add stew to bowls and serve with boiled potatoes. Garnish with fresh parsley if you would like. Enjoy!

Review of New Release- The Amish Widow's Last Stitch by Tracy Fredrychowski

Lizzie Yoder’s quiet Amish life is shattered when a sudden death reveals a web of secrets, and the only person who can help her unravel them is the one man she’s been warned not to trust . Lizzie Yoder has always lived by the rules. As a devoted Amish woman, she finds solace in her faith, family, and grandmother’s cherished yarn shop, Simply Yarn. But when her grandmother, Widow Yoder, dies under suspicious circumstances, Lizzie’s peaceful life is turned upside down.

Evert Miller is no stranger to breaking the rules. Once a wayward soul who left Willow Springs to uncover the truth about his parents, Evert’s return stirs whispers among the community. His bad-boy reputation is enough to unsettle Lizzie, but the clues he’s following, all pointing to Simply Yarn, leave her no choice but to let him help.

Forced to work together, Lizzie and Evert follow a trail of cryptic clues that tie her grandmother’s death to secrets long buried. As they dig deeper, tensions rise. Evert’s rebellious nature clashes with Lizzie’s steadfast faith, and the feelings sparking between them threaten to unravel everything Lizzie has worked so hard to protect.

But the closer they get to the truth, the greater the danger. Someone is desperate to keep the past buried, and Widow Yoder’s death is just the beginning.

The Amish Widow’s Last Stitch is the third book in the Willow Springs Amish Mystery Romance series. If you like secrets, disappearances, plot twists, and sometimes murder, then you'll adore Tracy Fredrychowski's small-town whodunnit Amish romance mysteries.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DPJ9HSYL

My Review

I have read all the Willow Springs books and enjoyed re-visiting the community. Lizzie is a wonder-compassionate, caring, and sensitive. Her grandmother, Ester Yoder, is mourned by the whole town after her sudden passing, but most of all by Lizzie as she tries to reopen Simply Yarn.

The story is fast-paced, a definite page turner, with strong characters. There is a touch of mystery, suspense, betrayal, fraud, and a sweet budding romance. I finished the story in one sitting.

As the story unfolded, I found myself running the gamut of emotions. The story moved me, with its in-depth characters as their strengths and weaknesses evolved. The ending was amazing.

Review of New Release-Royally Rogue by Dora Hiers

A princess must give up her dream life to fulfill her duties and marry a man she doesn't even know…

Princess Katarina "Kati" Barringer Hawthorne of Matlagonia thrives in the quiet life she's carved out in Brighton Bluff, away from her emotionally detached parents and the expectations of the citizens of their tiny country. Expectations which require her to marry another royal she's never even met!

If she were marrying Reece Kerrigan, her best friend since moving to Brighton Bluff, she would have no qualms about moving back to Matlagonia. Reece is kind and considerate, a man of faith and integrity, a man she's grown to depend on. His easy-going friendship and warm smiles brighten her days, making her wish that things could be different, that she was born into a normal family, and she can't imagine a life without him. But her parents arranged her marriage decades ago, hoping to unite the two adjoining countries into one powerful force, so they would never approve of any deviations from that plan.

Chandler "Reece" Archibald-Kerrigan never intended to deceive Kati. What started as his only decent chance to get to know his bride-to-be without the trappings of kingdom responsibilities or parental meddling snowballed into a friendship that spanned years and made him fall deeper in love with the strong and beautiful Princess Katarina.

But when she receives the email from her father, demanding that she return home to fulfil her duties and marry, well, him, will the truth finally set her free from the obligation to marry? Will his faith, his friendship, and his enduring love be enough to sway her to fuse their lives and their countries? Or will his secret destroy their friendship and any hope of a forever love?

Dora and her real-life hero, a retired fire chief, call North Carolina home, but with a world full of amazing places to explore, that’s only a landing point.

MY REVIEW

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book-royalty aspect, arranged marriage with a twist, and a beautiful romance. This one surprised me from the beginning. There are lots of lovely moments of generosity, friendships, and every woman's dream of finding her true love.

Kati & Reece's trust in God and their faith are amazing. In parts of the book, I felt a heartwarming closeness, as if I knew them. I highly recommend you give this one a try. It will leave you with a feeling of joy, remind you of God's promises, and bring a smile to your face, long after you turn the last page.

I received an ARC from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
